Know Your History: Overview of the History Tabs in MSP360 Managed Backup

MSP360 Managed Backup has various options that allow you to track all the major actions within the console: for example, you can monitor backup plan statuses, check your purchases, and see what your administrators have worked on. In this guide, we'll overview all the tabs where you can view the history records.

Backup History

Proceed to the Reporting tab, Backup History section. Here, you can see a full list of your backup plans grouped by computer. All plans that have been run are marked according to their result. A green check mark means that everything went fine; a red cross – that the backup failed; and a yellow exclamation mark is a warning.

You can click any mark to get information on what happened. For instance, click a red cross. On the slide-in that appears, click the arrow near “Failed”. This will open a detailed error message. Yellow marks work similarly.

Checking Errors in MSP360 Managed Backup

If you need to check the backup plans of a particular company, choose the company from the drop-down menu at the top-right.

You can also switch on the Issue Only filter. In this case, the successful backups will be hidden in order to ease the search. And the Search Request field allows you to display the backups that contain the specified characters in their names.

Click Show Monitoring. You will be redirected to the Monitoring/History section. Here, you can find some additional information about your plans. Switch on the Running filter. You’ll see plans that are running right now and can identify those that have been running for too long.

Some plans might be marked as overdue; that means that they were not launched on time for some reason, so they might require your attention. Plans that failed or finished with a warning are also shown. You can get the details corresponding to a failure or overdue mark by clicking the date near it or – another option – clicking the gear icon and choosing Open Last Run Details or Open Overdue Settings.

Audit Log

Go to the Audit Log section of the Organization tab. The data here is vital for security reasons: you can see all the actions of your administrators here. All major actions are recorded and, for each of them, there’s information on the administrator’s email and IP address. There are also filters to ease your search.

You should check the Audit Log and Backup History regularly as a part of your routines, so as not to miss anything important.

Purchase History

The Purchase History section of the Organization tab is where you can track your license purchases. For each purchase, several parameters are shown: purchase time, expiration date, transaction number, status, and amount of money paid. If you see the information icon on the right of a transaction line, that means that you can get more information on this transaction.

If there is an Update payment details option near the transaction id, then license auto renewal is available. Enter your credit card or PayPal information to enable this.
