We at MSP360 are continuing to expand and strengthen our backup and disaster recovery platform with a new generation of instant restore, virtualization, and storage optimization capabilities designed for MSPs, IT teams, and enterprise environments.
These upcoming features focus on:
- Faster recovery times
- Improved operational flexibility
- Reduced storage consumption
- Simplified disaster recovery
- Better support for modern virtualized infrastructures
Direct Instant Restore to VMware / Hyper-V / Proxmox
Image-Based Backups can now be restored directly to:
- VMware
- Microsoft Hyper-V
- Proxmox VE
The platform automatically creates a virtual machine from the backup image and restores it directly to the selected virtualization environment.
This significantly reduces recovery complexity and accelerates disaster recovery operations for virtualized infrastructures.
Instant Restore (DR)
Instant Restore enables virtual machines to boot directly from backup storage without waiting for a full restore operation to complete.
Supported for:
- Image Backups
- VMware / Hyper-V / Proxmox backups
The VM becomes operational within minutes while the platform transparently restores data in the background to production storage.
Once synchronization is completed, the system seamlessly switches the VM from the temporary backup disk to the restored production disk:
- Without downtime
- Without interruption
- Without data loss
All changes made while the VM is running from backup storage are fully preserved during the transition.
This capability dramatically reduces downtime during critical outages and provides near-instant business continuity.
Proxmox VM & LXC Backup Support
Expanded virtualization support now includes:
- Proxmox VE virtual machines
- LXC containers
This enhancement enables centralized protection and recovery for modern Proxmox-based infrastructures and mixed virtualization environments.
Hybrid Backup
Hybrid Backup is now supported across all backup types.
Backups can now be:
- Stored locally for fast operational recovery
- Automatically replicated to one or multiple secondary destinations for offsite redundancy and disaster recovery
This approach combines:
- Fast local restore performance
- Improved resilience
- Geographic redundancy
- Better ransomware recovery readiness
Hybrid Backup helps organizations implement stronger backup strategies without sacrificing recovery speed.
Synthetic Backup for Local Destinations
Synthetic Backup support is now available for:
- Local disks
- Network shares
This enables efficient Forever Forward Incremental (FFI) backup strategies for local storage targets.
Key Benefits
- Reduced storage consumption
- Faster incremental backup operations
- Lower infrastructure costs
- Improved retention efficiency
- Better suitability for storage-constrained environments
This feature is especially valuable for MSPs and organizations looking to optimize storage utilization while maintaining long-term retention policies.
Item-Level Restore via Web Browser
Restore individual files and folders directly from your web browser without requiring a full system restore.
Supported backup types:
- Image-Based Backups
- File Backups
- VMware / Hyper-V / Proxmox backups
Files can be downloaded directly to the browser’s Downloads folder for fast and convenient recovery operations.
Built-In Security
All data transfers are protected with AES encryption.
For browsers supporting the Web Crypto API (such as Google Chrome), downloaded ZIP archives are decrypted automatically within the browser for a seamless recovery experience.
If browser-side decryption is not supported, users can securely decrypt the archive manually using their encryption password after download.
This feature dramatically simplifies file recovery workflows for administrators and end users while maintaining strong security standards.
