Yes. MSP360 Free Backup software is completely free for personal use on standalone (non-domain) machines. There are no subscription fees or time limits. However, storage is not included - if you back up to a cloud provider (like Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, or Wasabi), you'll need to pay for that storage separately. Local backup is available at no cost, but limited to 5 TB of total data.

Are there any storage limits in the Free version?

Yes. The Free Edition has the 5 TB storage limit for cloud and local storage.

Can I use MSP360 Free Backup in a business environment?

Yes - you can use MSP360 Free Backup on any computer that is not joined to a corporate domain. For domain-joined or business-critical systems, we recommend upgrading to MSP360 Backup Pro or MSP360 Managed Backup.

Can I upgrade from Free to Pro without losing my settings?

Yes. Upgrading from our free backup software, to a paid version is seamless. Your backup plans, schedules, and history will remain intact - you'll simply unlock additional features and remove storage restrictions by entering a paid license key.

Is MSP360 Backup the same free backup software as CloudBerry Backup?

Yes. MSP360 Free Backup Software is the direct successor to CloudBerry Backup. In 2021, CloudBerry Lab changed the brand name to MSP360. This rebranding extended to our products, with CloudBerry Backup being renamed to MSP360 Backup. You'll find the same functionality in this free backup software.

Does MSP360 Backup Free include encryption?

Yes. MSP360 Backup Free for Windows supports client-side AES encryption . Your backup data is encrypted before it leaves your computer using a password you define. Keep the password safe, as you will need it to restore encrypted backups.

Does MSP360 Backup Free support Object Lock?

Yes. MSP360 Backup Free for Windows supports Default Object Lock on compatible cloud storage. When properly configured, Object Lock helps prevent protected backup copies from being deleted or overwritten during their retention period. Availability and configuration requirements depend on your storage provider.
