We are excited to announce the release of MSP360 Remote Desktop version 2.6 which introduces important new features and improvements.
With the latest Host Auto-Update feature, there is no need to manually check for a newer version of the agent on the host side. Each time a connection is established, the Host Auto-Update feature checks for the latest version automatically, and then prompts you to update the host side device. If Remote Desktop has been installed in Unattended Access mode, it will automatically check for an update every 24 hours, and update itself if necessary. Additionally, the update process can be forced directly from the Management Portal. The same rules apply for Free Managed Remote Desktop except for the management portal functionality.
After the Remote Desktop Version 2.6 release, any client older than version 2.4 will no longer be supported. If you would like to continue using MSP360 Remote Desktop, please update to the latest version as soon as possible. This policy is to ensure usability and security. We thank you in advance for your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
New File Transfer Interface
Another big update in this release is the fully reworked File Transfer feature. We have implemented a new user-friendly GUI which is more streamlined and easier to use than ever before.
Don’t forget about new File Transfer rules:
- If you are connecting via our servers, the file size limit is - 10 MB.
- If you are connecting via the Direct Internet or Direct LAN feature, the file size is - unlimited.
Our clients’ security has always been our top priority and with the new configuration encryption, you can be sure your configuration files are safer than ever. Here’s some additional information about this feature:
- The file encoding key is not logically connected with the config encryption password
- The encryption password is not stored anywhere, so be sure to save it somewhere safe
- The encoded file can be read on all computers
As you can see it fits perfectly in a corporate environment as well as your home network.
