MSP360 Managed Connect (Formerly Remote Desktop) Essential Features

MSP360 Managed Connect is a remote access solution with various features that make your remote working processes easier while providing a high degree of safety. With this, you can get access to any services on your customer’s computer, chat or talk with a user to fully understand an issue, and send or receive files.

In this guide, you will learn how to use MSP360 Managed Connect features.

Below we will describe the full functionality, which is now only available for connection through the desktop application. Web-based remote connections have some limitations.

In-session Panels Overview

You’ll see two panels after connection.

The admin panel is shown at the top and has the following options (from left to right):

  • Hide panel (“pin” icon)
  • Menu
  • Chat
  • Select active monitor
  • Incoming sound
  • Microphone
  • Full-screen view
  • Image quality adjustment
  • File transfer
  • Disconnect from the remote computer

Click the Menu button to view a list of the other available features. Here, you’ll find session recording, black screen, diagnostics, and more.

The remote user panel is located below and includes the following options:

  • Always show on top (“pin” icon)
  • Menu
  • Chat
  • Incoming sound
  • Microphone
  • Manage outgoing connections
  • Disconnect

From the remote user menu, you can start a chat with a partner, record the session, check options, and more.

Statistics

Usage statistics helps you keep track of all your connections and their duration. For example, if you want to calculate your expenses, you can always check how many hours were spent on resolving an issue.

Go to the web console, Reporting tab, and click on Connect Statistics. Here, you can see:

  • The admin responsible for the remote session
  • Company name
  • Target computer
  • Start time of the session
  • Session duration

Black Screen and Remote Input

With the black-screen feature, you can temporarily turn the remote user’s screen black to hide your actions on their computer. The black-screen feature is enabled by default for unattended connections.

You can also temporarily block the remote user’s keyboard and mouse input to prevent any action by them while you are resolving an issue.
