What Is the Difference Between Free and Standalone Backup Editions?

    Pricing

As the name of the edition suggests, MSP360 Free Backup doesn’t require license fees, and is free to use, while MSP360 Standalone Backup has an annual subscription payment mode.

    Features

While both MSP360 Free and Standalone Backup editions are available for Windows, macOS and Linux devices, MSP360 Free Backup only supports file-level backup. With MSP360 Standalone Backup, you have more backup types supported, like image-based backup, Windows Server, virtual machine backup, and more.

Also, MSP360 Free Backup doesn’t offer compression and encryption options as opposed to MSP360 Standalone Backup.

    Storage limits

With both editions you get the same storage limits for AWS, and you are limited by 5 TB. But the difference exists for Wasabi, Backblaze B2, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Storage (500 GB and 5 TB consequently), and for the local storage (1 TB and unlimited).

    Use cases

MSP360 Free Backup software is a perfect solution for personal use: for example, users who need a basic backup solution for small-scale data protection of personal desktops with low data volumes (e.g. personal documents, photos) without upfront costs MSP360 Standalone Backup provides secure, and easy-to-use data protection for businesses. With this solution you can conveniently manage smaller-scale IT environments and upgrade anytime.
