To secure your visibility, version 2.5 introduces a password requirement for Windows agent uninstallation. You can set up the password requirement globally or per-company.

While our Watchdog service already monitors the RMM Agent’s status and restarts it if stopped, a curious end-user or a malicious actor could still wipe the agent entirely, leaving the Watchdog with no "house to guard." The new password protection prevents anyone from removing the software without your permission.

Updated Alerts and Resource Tracking

RMM 2.5 adds two new alert types — one for silent failures, one for precise diagnosis.

Alert on Service Failure After Reboot

Having implemented a new layer of detection, system services and daemons are now continuously monitored even through system restarts. Previously, if the monitored service or daemon failed to initialize after a reboot — no alert was triggered. To eliminate that, MSP360 RMM 2.5 now detects these "ghost" failures during the boot process. This ensures you can resolve initialization issues immediately, often before the end-user even realizes there is a problem.

Process-Level Resource Tracking

You can now proactively monitor specific applications to ensure they stay within their expected performance limits, enabling a more surgical response to resource issues. Before, system-wide alerts could only identify that a performance threshold was reached, leaving you to manually investigate which specific service was at fault. By predifining resource thresholds for individual processes in Version 2.5, you’ll know exactly when the targeted application begins hogging RAM or CPU.

Seamless Management Across Windows, macOS, and Linux

Whether you are managing Windows, macOS, or Linux, the experience should be consistent across your entire fleet.

Linux Parity

Managing Linux endpoints in Version 2.5 now matches the experience on Windows and macOS. The update adds full software management, including installation, uninstallation, and updates, giving you the same depth of control across all three platforms, directly from the Management Console.

The Interactive Shell

We’ve added an interactive shell console, giving you direct command-line access to your Linux machines right from the MSP360 RMM interface. You can now run ad-hoc commands or review logs directly from the Management Console without needing a separate SSH session.

Enhanced WinGet Integration

For Windows admins, we’ve updated our WinGet filters to go beyond just the most popular 64-bit versions. RMM now returns all available candidates, allowing you to select the specific version you need for your environment directly from the console.

macOS Tahoe 26

Version 2.5 includes official support for the latest macOS release.

Smarter Automation and Scheduling

Flexible Group Action tasks — more precise scheduling and automatic new endpoint enrollment.

Pattern-Based Scheduling

You can now align Group Action tasks with complex maintenance windows, such as the "2nd Thursday of every month." If previously you might have been limited to scheduling on the "first day of the month," regardless of which day of the week that fell on, Version 2.5 ensures your automation maps perfectly to specific weekday-based workflows.

Dynamic Scoping

Task scopes now handle new endpoint enrollment for you. Before, you had to add new machines to existing task scopes manually. Now, if a task is scoped by a company or a tag, any new endpoint added to that company or assigned that tag is automatically picked up by the task.

Interface improvements

Based on your feedback, we’ve optimized the side panel to reduce clicks for your most frequent tasks.

Additionally, time zone displays for group actions are now consistent across the entire interface. This eliminates the chance for confusion with scheduled tasks when the machines are located in different time zones.

Get Started with MSP360 RMM 2.5

These updates are live and ready for you to try at MSP360 RMM.

If you’re new to the platform, get started with a 15-day free trial. To build a robust IT stack, providers must carefully evaluate the essential RMM software features to look for and understand exactly what to monitor with RMM to proactively prevent system downtime. As operations scale, many IT teams find themselves evaluating their workflow tools, often debating whether they need an RMM, a PSA, or both to streamline ticket resolution and client communication—a topic further explored in our comprehensive video guide. Because these remote tools maintain high-level access to client networks, prioritizing strict RMM security is non-negotiable, and it pairs best with advanced data protection strategies like utilizing object lock for immutable backups to thwart ransomware attacks. Fortunately, upgrading your service offerings doesn't have to break the bank; taking advantage of a powerful free RMM allows growing MSPs to deliver top-tier, secure support with zero initial software investment.

With the release of MSP360 RMM version 2.5, we’ve focused on increasing security and visibility of the endpoint performance, expanding Linux support and manual task automation.

[997,877,882

post-62038","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-msp360-rmm","category-blog-articles","category-msp360-news
["GET
