Last week, the MSP360 team took part in the annual MSP World Conference at the Marriott World Resort in Orlando, Florida. We met a lot of great people, held deep conversations, attended lectures, and gave away some awesome prizes. Overall, it was a well-planned trade show that kicked off the 2022 conference season.\u00a0For MSPs in 2022, the hot topic of conversation is still cybersecurity, and the main subject within cybersecurity is still ransomware protection<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ransomware is still a big concern for MSPs<\/h2>\n

But what was so interesting about one of the panel discussions we sat in on was whether or not MSPs should get involved with assisting their customers in paying the ransom through cryptocurrency. Not all ransomware attacks come with an \u201c800\u201d number that can assist victims with setting up a crypto-wallet and ultimately paying the ransom. For a customer who\u2019s experienced an attack, this is a complex issue to deal with and most people wouldn't know how to respond to such an incident. After all, the MSP was hired to protect the client\u2019s data from being breached, and helping to facilitate the ransom transaction because the cybersecurity measures failed would seem like a natural extension of that protection.<\/p>\n

But it turns out that there are numerous legal implications of assisting in these types of payments and transactions according to government regulations, and it's not always clear what the right course of action is.<\/p>\n

Another interesting topic covered at MSP World was based on sustainability. Companies are now selecting partners based on good sustainability practices. Many people, I\u2019m sure, have heard this term being thrown around in conversation but the reality is that it might actually affect an MSP\u2019s bottom line.<\/p>\n

In a world where people are extremely environmentally conscious, what does sustainability mean for the MSP? Does it simply mean having a recycling bin in your office or is it a top-to-bottom, fundamental change in the way your business operates to ensure sustainability?<\/p>\n

Sustainable generally tends to mean products and companies that utilize environmentally conscious business practices. For example, companies like Apple that use recycled aluminum and gold in their hardware would be considered to be environmentally conscious! For an MSP, this could mean a multitude of new sustainable initiatives that meet the needs of the new-age buyer!<\/p>\n

As we move into the second quarter of 2022, we\u2019ll see more cybersecurity topics at the upcoming conferences. The MSP360 team is always on the front line to new discoveries, solutions, and conversations. And we hope to see you soon at one of the industry\u2019s leading conferences!<\/p>\n
